65 mm/50 (2.56") [9-pdr] Model 1888/1891

These older guns were the next step up from the 57 mm [6-pdr] Hotchkiss guns and were used as anti-torpedo boat guns on large ships. Fired a 9.0 lbs. (4.1 kg) projectile at a muzzle velocity of 2,346 fps (715 mps). Some of these were still in service in 1939. Actual bore length was 49.2 calibers. Some were transferred to the Army for use in the Maginot Line fortifications.

65 mm/50 (2.56") [9-pdr] Model 1902

A slightly improved gun firing a 9.2 lbs. (4.2 kg) projectile at a muzzle velocity of 2,625 fps (800 mps). Some of these were transferred to the Army for use in the Maginot Line fortifications.
